Many marketers use Microsoft Excel every day, whether it’s creating a chart, analyzing data, or running a report to present at the next team meeting.
Creating such reports in Excel is time-consuming enough. How can we spend a little less time navigating, designing, selecting and entering formulas for our data? Wouldn’t it be great if there were keyboard shortcuts that could help us get our work done faster?
I’m glad you asked.
We have compiled a list of 43 keyboard shortcuts for Microsoft Excel. Although you can do all of these maneuvers manually, knowing these tricks will help you save time so you can focus on the things that really matter.
All of these shortcuts can be accessed on PC and Mac, so we’ve included both types below where appropriate.
(Note for Mac users: To access F keys (F1–F12), you will have to hold Fn key before pressing any F keys — unless you are enabled these keys as standard function keys.)

Navigation shortcuts
These simple shortcuts can help you navigate between workbooks, sheets, rows, and columns:

Design shortcuts
Formatting in Excel can be tricky if you don’t know what you’re doing. Here are some shortcuts to help you format cells easily. To get you started, here’s a formatting shortcut you might not have known about:
Excel’s strikethrough shortcut
Excel’s Strikethrough shortcut will strike a line through the middle of the value or text in the highlighted cell. To draw a line through a cell, highlight the cell and press CTRL + 5 on your keyboard.

Shortcuts for selecting rows and columns
Save yourself the hassle of manually dragging and selecting rows and columns with these handy keyboard tricks. To get you started, here are two featured bar-related shortcuts you might not have known about:
Excel shortcut for inserting a row
Excel’s Insert Row shortcut will create a new row below the highlighted cell. To insert a new row, highlight a cell or the entire row and press CTRL + Shift + + to your keyword by literally pressing the plus sign after Shift. This will open a small options window where you can insert a new row or column.

Formulas are a big part of every marketer’s Excel toolbox. Here are some shortcuts that will make you a formula wizard:

| Insert an AutoSum formula | Alt + (PC); Command + Shift + t (Mac) |
| Edit the active cell | F2 (PC); CTRL + u (Mac) |

Shortcut to delete a row in Excel
Excel’s Delete Row shortcut will delete the row below the highlighted cell. To delete this row, highlight the cell or the entire row and press CTRL + – on the keyboard by literally pressing the minus sign for CTRL. This will open a small options window where you can “move cells up.”
