Google Search ranking update volatility July 5th and 7th

Over the past few days, there has been some chatter in the SEO community about more Algorithmic Fluctuations in Google Search Rankings and volatility. This comes after more than a week of relative silence in Google search results.

The chatter increased in the WebmasterWorld and in comment section from my last Google update story on June 28 have increased significantly over the last few days – some chatter increased on July 5th and then more on July 7th today.

Additionally, some tools have begun to show a large upward swing in Google search volatility over the past 24 hours.

Interesting, this morning at 6:00 am and the switch was on, and this evening at 6:00 pm, two hours ago, the switch was on! Note that this is mid-day/afternoon US time, the slide continues even on hold.

It seems many years ago it remembered a big update and the whole Plex went skiing and everything went very wrong, seems to be the standard modus operandi these days

Big drop today…

Every holiday and during major events, they tend to introduce more anti-web features on SERP pages, hoping they can hide behind holiday/news headlines.

This drop is only partially related to the 4th of July, but is mostly a direct result of online changes to SERP pages.

Sudden, precipitous drop in US traffic overnight…starting a 76% drop this morning. My homepage traffic was -33% yesterday and -44% today. I’m stable in the rankings and have gained some new terms, but the traffic has literally disappeared

Traffic and SERPs seem so turbulent. The search is not resting now. The strangest thing to me is that our personal movements no longer reflect the movements of others. Some days the sensors are silent, but we see a lot of movement.
