Microsoft Advertising now requires verification of the advertiser’s identity to ensure that customers see ads from trusted sources, which improves the user experience, the company said. “Under this program, advertisers will need to go through a verification process to establish their legal identity,” says Microsoft. added.
Google Ads has this requirement also for some verticals and industries, so it should come as no surprise that Microsoft Advertising is following suit.
Advertisers may use government documents with a photograph or personal identity or business documents issued by the relevant regulatory authorities to complete this process through Microsoft Advertising. Microsoft said the process is highly automated and that they have simplified “the process to ensure that advertisers can complete it quickly.”
The name of your company or individual and the country or region of operation will be displayed to the search engine as follows:
The current scope of the program was limited to advertisers belonging to certain industries or unclear business models. The program is currently available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, the Netherlands, Poland, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.
How does advertiser identity verification work?
(1) Microsoft Advertising will request email verification of the advertiser for one or more of your accounts.
(2) Follow the instructions in the email you receive to complete the authentication. You may need to check your company, individual, or both status.
(3) You must complete all authentication-related tasks within 30 days of receiving your email request, or we will suspend your account and your ads will not run. In this case, once you’ve successfully completed your authentication, we’ll enable your account and begin running your ads again.
(4) The review and approval of your submission for verification may take 3 to 5 working days. If you want to appeal the decision, contact support. For more information about authentication status, see Authentication Status Below.
