We are introducing an updated first experience for new Yoast SEO users. At Yoast SEO 18.9, we make it easy for users to set up the essential elements that search engines need to understand your site. The first configuration takes you by the hand and guides you in setting everything up correctly.
A new first experience to help you get started
Installing a new WordPress plug-in can be daunting. Some plug-ins work out of the box without any configuration, and some need a little help to make the most of them. For Yoast SEO, we always try to improve the first experience that users have with the plugin. In today’s edition, we improved on that first experience and moved to a place where it makes more sense.
We continue to work on this because we notice that not everyone enters basic information about themselves and their sites. This is important because we use these settings to properly display structured data that Google and other search engines understand, among other things. Failure to do so makes it harder for search engines to figure out who you are and what your site is doing.
So, don’t forget to run this first configuration and complete everything correctly! You can also do this if you have been using your site for some time.
Bug fixes and improvements
Of course, we make corrections and improvements for each edition. This release is no different, with several minor bug fixes to help improve the stability of the SEO plugin. In addition, we have improved compatibility with the upcoming edition of WordPress 6.0 The full list can be found on the change log page for Yoast SEO.
