YouTube’s weekly update for creators includes more subscriber metrics and access to an expanded library of copyrighted music.
Here’s a roundup of all the breaking news posts this week.
Greater access to copyrighted music
YouTube is expanding partnerships with music labels and publishers to give creators more musical options for their videos.
As a result, creators will be able to access more copyrighted content while also being able to monetize their videos.
Prior to this update, the inclusion of copyrighted music would prevent monetization of the video.
YouTube is building and testing this update with a limited set of creators and will have more information to share in the coming months.
New metric: Subscribers from posts
Creators can now see how many subscribers they’re getting through community posts.
This new measurement can be viewed in subscription resource report in YouTube Analytics.
YouTube hopes to add subscriber metrics per post in the future.
More information about remixes
If you’ve enabled the option to allow other creators to remix your content, you can now get more information about those remixes in YouTube Analytics.
With this enhancement, you’ll see the following metrics:
- Total views of the remix
- 15 best remixes on mobile
- 15 Best Remixes on Desktop
Changes to the YouTube Studio video editor
YouTube is changing the video editor in YouTube Studio. The cropping function will be upgraded to make the video cutting process more intuitive.
The following updates are rolling out to YouTube Studio for desktop this week:
- A new cut section that allows for fine grain time editing.
- Color coded and wider edges on trim and cut function for easier grip.
- Easier access to preview and editing features.
