Google has announced has added a new attribute to Google business profiles for Asian-owned businesses. This new attribute can be added to your verified Google Business Profile and makes it easier to find Asian-owned businesses in their community.
What the attribute looks like. This is what the new Asian-owned attribute looks like in a business listing on Google Maps or Google Search:
How to add an attribute. Here are the steps to add this attribute to your Google Business Profile:
- Go to your business profile. Learn how to find your profile.
- Choose Edit profile Business information.
- Select at the top more tab.
- Select the category you want to change.
- Select next to the attribute yes or no.
- When you are done updating the attributes, select Save.
Other attributes. Yelp had this type of attribute from May 2021, this is another example of Google trying to catch up with Yelp. In 2018, Google introduced family run (which is no longer available), led by veteransand female-led attributeswas added by Google in 2020 attributes owned by blacksin 2021, Google added a Latin American owned attribute in business profiles and recently Google added LGBTQ+ property in business profiles.
Why do we care? Attributes like these can help create visibility for your profile, so if you’re eligible for any of these business profile attributes, add them to your profile – and at least give it a try. Businesses need to take every advantage they can to grow their revenue and their customer base.
