Google seek set of rules update on July sixteen or turned into related to indexing difficulty

As many of you know, it was pretty massive indexing issue affecting new content in Google Search for most of Friday July 15th, but it was pretty lonely until that Friday. Now I see the signals a Google Search Ranking Algorithm Update on Saturday, July 16.

Are the two related? It’s possible, but as with any of these updates, it’s hard to say for sure. If you have a ton of new content that doesn’t get indexed all day, can that cause a lot of volatility when the indexing error is fixed the next day? Imagine there’s this backlog of new content waiting to be indexed, and then all of a sudden Google opens up the block and allows all of that new content to be indexed the next day. Does this cause volatility the next day? Sound doable? So keep that in mind as I share the rest below.

Remember, the last unconfirmed one was on July 10 and then July 7 and 5 updates and before that June 28, June 23, June 19 and 20also May 2022 Google Core Update began rolling out on May 25, 2022 and was officially declared complete on June 9 but we have seen major tremors before and after the start and end date of this update.

So what do we see now?

People in progress WebmasterWorld The forums have been saying this since Saturday:

Here we go again… 70+% drop in traffic to my homepage. Big drops in overall English language traffic… Canada and Australia are almost zero some days, the UK is up one day the next, and the US is consistently average and just trying to reach stasis. Whereas my ranking is stable and even higher most days.

Anyone else seeing a big drop in organic traffic again? (-70/80%) from 16/07/2022 at 17:00 GTM (KW deleted again)

I personally watch these ups and downs with disbelief as traffic seems to cycle on and off. My overall traffic has dropped because several of my top keywords have been deleted, but others are doing fine.

Daily PVs range from 100% average to 49.3% yesterday and after 13 hours today at 12%, yes twelve.

Traffic is lighter this weekend… my UK traffic followed the weather trends mentioned by @RedBar. It drops off a cliff all day on weekends, then suddenly picks up late afternoon, early evening. Today UK traffic is down 71% and I hear it’s a heat wave. Let’s see if they show up later. We all need to be aware that people are traveling a lot this year.

Besides, there are a lot of them recent comments on this page:

My site just went back to pre-core update levels this morning after being hit twice.

I don’t know why this is happening and I have no idea how long it will last.

Yes, my sites that were completely gone and not ranking in the top 100 for any keywords are back.

Very poor sales and conversions here too, whatever they do, regardless of changes, regardless of time cycles.

Traffic on my site has been this low since Friday. After the basic update, have you done anything like update your old content or create new content?

So I’d be cautious about even calling it an unconfirmed Google search ranking update because we had this massive indexing issue the day before. But I thought I’d document it and mention the indexing issue so at least you know you’re not alone if you’re seeing strange things since the weekend.
