Instagram subscription trial provides 3 new functions

Instagram continues to test its subscription option and has just added three new features for users in the beta group.

Earlier this year. Meta began testing Instagram subscriptions with a small group of influencers in January. Today, the same features are available to “tens of thousands” of creators in the US.

Three new features. Features now available are:

  • Subscription chats powered by messenger that disappear after 24 hours
  • Exclusive posts or reels
  • A separate subscriber-only tab in their profile where subscribers can access exclusive content

What Instagram says. “The really important thing for creators everywhere is sustainable income. At the end of the day, if you’re a creator, you’re a business, and subscriptions are a great way to build consistent and predictable income,” says Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri. Why do we care? While this is not an advertising feature, individual brands using Instagram to promote their content can benefit from the subscriber-only features. This option is probably Meta’s way of competing with TikTok and Snapchat to attract more creators to its platform.
