Instagram is announcing three new features for users who create Reels videos, which include the ability to cross-post to Facebook and more.

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announces the new features in the video below.

Three new Reels features include:

  • Cross-posting from Instagram to Facebook
  • “Add Your Own” sticker.
  • Detailed insights into the performance of Reels on Facebook

Here are the full details on each of the updates released today.

Crosspost Instagram Reels to Facebook

If you have an account on both social networks, you can post a Reel on Instagram and post on Facebook at the same time.

The next time you create a Reel on Instagram, you’ll get a prompt asking if you want to share it with Facebook.

When you choose to cross-post, all reels created on Instagram will automatically be shared with Facebook unless you specify otherwise at the time of posting.

Note that the default privacy setting for Reels is public. Even if you have a private Facebook profile, people you are not connected to will be able to see your Reels.

Add Your Own Sticker from Instagram Stories

Instagram brings the “add your own” sticker from Stories to Reels.

You can add a sticker to any reel to encourage others to create a reel in response. It could be something like: β€œMy highlight of the weekend was spending time at the beach. Add yours.”

Users can tap the sticker and add their own reel that responds to your prompt.

Mosseri shares his excitement for the feature in a teaser video:

β€œWhat’s amazing about seeing something is that it can inspire you to create your own story, and we want to have that in the video. We want the video to be fun and entertaining to watch, but we also want to inspire people to tell their own stories, and we hope to achieve that.”

Let’s say you post a reel with an “add your own” sticker and so many people respond that it goes viral.

Thanks to attribution, everyone will know you started the trend.

Mosseri continues:

β€œIf you start a trend, we want to make sure you get credit for starting that trend, so there’s a little bit of attribution. A little link to your profile that will appear on a sticker that you can turn off if you want.”

New insights into Facebook reels

New and improved insights for Reels are rolling out on Facebook.

With this update, you will be able to analyze data such as reach, average watch time, total watch time and other metrics that can help you understand how your Reels are performing on Facebook.

Facebook reel schedule

Regarding the new Reels features, it’s worth noting that Meta just introduced the option Reels schedule on Facebook.

With Creator Studio, you can pre-plan your Reels content and manage all your published Reels in one central location.

There are more ways than ever to share short video content on Instagram and Facebook.
