GA4 now displays data for maximum performance and smart shopping

Everyone’s favorite new Google Analytics 4 tool now displays performance data from Maximize Performance campaigns and Smart Shopping campaigns.

Where. To see the PMax and SS specials, go to Acquisition > Traffic Acquisition report, you will see that the data is organized by The default channel grouping dimension. (Click + to select a secondary dimension.) Maximum Performance Campaigns and Smart Shopping Campaigns are in the Cross Network section.

Google notification. This is what Google may or may not have forgotten to make public, but Charles Farina discovered this week and posted about it on Linkedin. You can see the GA4 default channel groups help document here.

Why do we care? We’re much less excited about the launch of GA4. Mix that with the elusiveness of Performance Max and you have some nice PO advertisers. While the addition of this data brings us one step closer to full visibility, let’s just look at how the information is reported and attributed.
