Google is rolling out a new feature for business profiles that lets you set up automatic answers to frequently asked questions from customers.

This feature lets you suggest questions for people to ask when they message your business through your Google Business Profile. Similar to how a customer service chatbot works on business websites.

You can also set up automated answers to questions in chatbot style.

This feature was spotted by SEO expert Stefan Somborac, who shared his discovery on Twitter:

There is no official announcement about adding automatic FAQs for Google Business Profiles, but I confirmed the new feature by checking this help page with the Wayback Machine. The FAQ section is not present in the cached versions of the page from last month, which means that the launch happened in the last few weeks.

Here’s more about how automated FAQs work and how to set them up for your business.

How to set up automated FAQs on your Google Business Profile

Businesses can now pre-populate a list of questions that customers can ask when they start a chat through your Google profile.

For each question, you can create an answer that is sent automatically, so that the customer does not have to wait for an answer.

If you find that you are getting a lot of the same questions, this is a great opportunity to save time and serve your customers more efficiently.

You can also use this feature to redirect customers from Google to your website. Answers can include links, so you can direct customers to a page on your website that answers their questions.

To enable automatic FAQs for your Google Business Profile, follow these steps:

  • Search for “my business” on Google in your web browser.
  • Click Customers and then Messages.
  • Click meand then Message settingsand then Manage frequently asked questions.
  • Click +Add a question

You can set ten questions per business profile. Questions can be up to 40 characters long, and answers up to 500 characters.
