To help advertisers ensure that their campaigns are set up correctly for maximum performance, Google has introduced Diagnostic Insights. The purpose of the insights is to ensure there are no delays or issues causing low engagement or disapproved ads.

Insight into potential problems. When a new campaign is launched for maximum performance, the Diagnostic Insights view can automatically identify issues related to:

  • Condition
  • Billing
  • Rules
  • Conversion tracking
  • Budget
  • Objectives of the strategy
  • The power of the ad

You will also be able to view the recommendations via the progress bar.

What Google says. Currently, insights are only available for maximum performance campaigns, but Google says they plan to roll out insights for other types of campaigns in the next few months. You can read more information and visit the help document here.

Why do we care? The new insights could be useful when it comes to making sure advertisers don’t violate ad policies and provide useful insight into ad strength. However, advertisers should be aware that these are insights and not all suggestions will require correction. Budget and strategy insight is left up to the advertiser and must be manually reviewed and carefully considered before implementation.
