As we reported last year, Google Ads will be waiver of support for expanded text ads in 2022. From June 30, 2022, you will no longer be able to create or edit your extended text ads. Your existing expanded text ads will continue to run.
Google posted a reminder on Twitter and rewrote: “From June 30, 2022, search response ads will be the only type of search ads that can be created or edited in standard search campaigns.”
Google added: “As part of this change, you will no longer be able to create or edit expanded text ads. However, your existing expanded text ads will continue to appear alongside responsive search ads, and you’ll still see reports of their performance in the future. Additionally, you’ll be able to pause and resume your expanded text ads, or remove them as needed. You’ll still be able to create and edit call and dynamic search ads. “
Google said that “this change will help simplify the way you create ads on the search network and make it easier for you to increase your efficiency with our automated tools.” Adding “Responsive Ads on the Search Network helps you compete in a wider range of relevant auctions by providing ads that are tailored to deliver the right message for the right query. This means you can increase conversions and generate fewer ads – while spending more time on strategic initiatives for your business. “
Google said that “advertisers who switch from expanded text ads to responsive search ads with the same means, on average, see 7% more conversions at a similar cost per conversion.”
Google has published several best practices here to review and prepare for these changes.
Google has begun testing expanded text ads in 2016so you can see how fast things are moving in this space.
